Over the years many awards have been bestowed on Eric and Ern, in case you've forgotten here's a quick reminder...
Pinewood Thanks for the Sunshine - Sep 26th 1999
A tribute day honouring 43 years of comedy from British TV greats Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.
A plaque calling the duo "the century's finest double-act" was unveiled at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, where they filmed some of their 1960s movies.
Joan Morecambe said she was delighted to be awarding her husband yet another accolade.
Doreen Wise said she had shed a few tears during the day, saying "Eric and Ernie worked so hard but they've had an everlasting effect on British comedy."
Dance Academy Fellowship - May 1999
Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise were given the year's academy fellowship at the star-studded awards. Both awards were accepted by their widows who received a standing ovation as they collected them.
"Never in their wildest dreams could they have imagined that 15 years after their last performance, we would be receiving this on their behalf," said Joan.
Statue The Statue
In 1999 the Queen unveiled a statue of Eric on the sea front of his beloved Morecambe. To this day it is visited by thousands of fans each year. More information about this on the statue page.
Staues The Other Statues!
Everyone knows about the Eric statue in Morecambe, but did you know about the other? Two huge, 15 foot fibreglass statues of Eric and Ern were erected in Battersea Park in the seventies, before moving to Sheffield (being defaced) and then on to an unknown location. In October 2007 we tracked them down...
Eric

Funniest person of the 20th Century
Eric was voted the funniest person of the 20th Century in 1999 via an internet poll. Winning with 26% of the votes ahead of John Cleese and Tommy Cooper.

4th Greatest ever
In a 2005 comedian's comedian poll, he was voted 4th greatest comedy act ever. Just in front of him were (in reverse order) Woody Allen, John Cleese and Peter Cook.

Plaque English Heritage plaques
Several plaques have been erected around the country to honour both Eric and Ern. 14th May 1995 a plaque was erected at 85 Torrington Park London, marking the birthplace of Eric. 11th May 1997 a plaque was erected to honour Eric at Teddington studios. On the 10th October 1999 two plaques were unveiled at BBC TV Center, one for each of them.
OBE OBE
Eric and Ern arrived at Buckingham Palace to receive their OBEs on 24th November 1974.

Honorary Degree
In July 1977 Eric was presented with an Honorary Degree from Princess Alexandra by The University of Lancaster.
